From the first the faculty followed the standards of classical education with admirable blend of traditional and innovative approach.

The Department has its own Adyghe Studies Center, with its irreplaceable and sizeable data bank of Adyghe and Circassian historic and cultural heritage. Department students have the opportunity to use it for their diverse practical studies of Adyghe language, history and culture.

For aspiring poets, writers and publicists, the department can offer an award fee presented every year at the annual Students Research Conference in April. It was established by the family of renowned Adyghe poet Husen Khamoko in 2000.

Department students have the opportunity to enjoy reading their own articles on Adyghe language, literature, culture and history in printed and on-line editions of “Psal” (“Word”) – a scientific journal published at the Center. The undergraduates tried their hand at publishing as well. For several years they edited and printed various works in Adyghe language – poems, short stories, translations, articles and reviews.  Apart from that they participate in an impressive range of university activities: contests, competitions, Olympiads, debates and discussions all over Russian Federation, always with notable distinction and merits.

The Department praises and promotes practical approach while studying. Thus, the students get the required practice and experience in a range of establishments – from licensed key-schools and universities to publishing houses and government institutions providing a superb level of expertise in their native language, literature, history and culture both throughout the country and abroad. According to the Department Dean, Nuriet A. Khamerzokova,: “Following traditions of classical Adyghe education also means providing our students with every opportunity that helps them to fulfill and broaden their creative potential”.
