A Large Mathematical Workshop 2025

This year the Adyghe State University will become the platform of a Large Mathematical Workshop, it will take place at our University on July 8 - 19. The event will be a part of the ASU development program “Priority – 2030.” The project will take place to achieve technological leadership.  

LMW is a large-scale event for schoolchildren, college and university students of IT directions.

Schoolchildren and students’ teams, together with the curators, should undertake the solution of research, technological and methodological tasks in the framework of the ASU Workshop.

Each project task has a real customer from education, field of science and industry.

We invite to participate:

  • high school students:
  • students
  • young researchers, teachers ( for teachers and researchers with higher education the Workshop will become a professional development program, upon its successful completion a standard certificate will be issued).

Applications can be sent until June 1 in the  personal account on the project’s website. 
This year, it is supposed to solve four tasks at the ASU LMW site:
1. The service of automatic assignment of tasks for the bank visiting employees.  

Customer: LLC “Sovcombank Technologies”.

The team should develop a web service for the automatic assignment of tasks by the visiting Sovcombank employees, taking into account their qualifications, the degree of tasks’ complexity and the geographical location of the facilities.   

The system should automatically allocate tasks for the working week and determine the optimal route for bank employee to visit facilities. The solution will require web-application development skills and knowledge of optimization techniques.

2.    Development of a bulk product accounting system in a floor warehouse with using LIDAR technology. Customer: LLC “EuroChem-BMU”.

The team should develop an automatic accounting system for bulk products using laser scan system in a warehouse. LIDAR technology allows you to calculate the distance and create a 3D space model. The operator will control the system. To solve the problem, you will need knowledge in the field of process automation and data analysis.

3.    Calculation of the system efficiency to prevent “Gas pumping unit” emergency shutdown at the compressor station.

Customer: LLC “Gasрrom transgas Krasnodar”.

The team should select diagnostic sensors and software for the gas pumping unit automatic control system (SAU GPA), analyze the cost of the system and calculate the effectiveness of SAU GPA implementation. To solve the problem, the participants will need knowledge in the field of process automation and data analysis.

4.      Forecasting and estimating the amount of electricity generated by solar and wind power plants using generative neural networks.
Customer: ASU laboratory of Renewable Energy.
The team must build a neural network generative model to obtain a forecast of energy production for 1or 2 days. To solve the problem, participants will benefit from Python programming skills, knowledge of the basics of neural networks, and skills working with machine learning frames of PyTorch or Keras.

High school students, awarded by curators, will gain work experience in the implementation of real projects and try their hand at developing IT services.
Students, awarded by the curators, will receive certificates of participation in a Large Mathematical Workshop. They can use the certificates when applying for various contests. Students will get prizes and valuable gifts and they will be included in the IT reserves in the Republic of Adygheya.

The Workshop will take place simultaneously at several venues: Maykop, Adyghe State University: Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk State University: Tomsk, Tomsk State University.
