Turkish Actor Burak Özçivit's Representatives Meet at Adyghe State University to Discuss Upcoming Concert

On October 17, the Sports Palace of Adyghe State University will host a concert featuring Turkish film star Burak Özçivit, beloved by millions of international audiences, alongside the State Symphony Orchestra of the Concert Association of the Republic of Adygea. The day before, the actor's representatives visited the university to discuss the program concept with Adyghe State University leadership.

According to Susanna Makerova, founder of the international movement "Ethnofashion" and initiator of the project, Burak Özçivit's visit was made possible through a cross-cultural initiative aimed at popularizing ethnic cultures globally by drawing on the historical experiences of great powers—in this case, the Ottoman Empire and Russia, whose histories include prominent Adyghe figures.

According to the actor's official representative, this is not a national tour. The idol of Turkish TV series fans in Russia and abroad is travelling specifically to Maykop.

"Of course, we receive many requests to hold events in various regions and cities around the world. And everyone wonders, 'Why Maykop?'" To this, Burak responds that he has many admirers of his talent here, along with a rich history and ancient culture. Among the roles Burak plays and the characters he literally "embodies"—representing entire eras—are those of valiant Circassians. That is what makes him so intriguing. Burak also loves surprises, and his creative meeting in Maykop, the capital of the sunny Republic of Adygea, which we have already become immersed in, will be such a surprise for the residents of the republic, the region, and the entire country, said Zamig Kuliev, the artist's representative.

The project is a synthesis of genres—a journey through time and space.

"Burak is an artist and researcher with a keen interest in and love for cultures, which he conveys through his characters. His interest in the project is partly inspired by the history of great powers, their historical intersections, and the greatness of ethnic groups." It is widely known that in productions such as "The Magnificent Century", the Adyghe people distinguished themselves as courageous warriors, while the beautiful daughters of the Caucasus raised the descendants of Turkish sultans. Cultural exchange between peoples has always been, and remains, a unifying force. That is why the idea of coming to Russia, the Caucasus, and Maykop resonated with and was supported by the artist. "Especially since Burak's wife, Fahriye Evcen, has Circassian roots," noted Susanna Makerova.

The project's goal is to immerse the audience—through film and music performed by the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Adyghea—in the unique atmosphere of the historical period, and to reflect on historical and contemporary realities and intersections.
