The second “Cheshdes” popular science and educational evening for young people was held at Adyghe State University. Inspired by traditional Adyghe gatherings, the event was organized by the university’s Faculty of Adyghe Philology and Culture as part of the “AdygheLand” project. Its primary aim was to promote the Adyghe language and culture among today’s youth.
The evening was hosted by Kazbek Nagarokov, a folklorist, PhD in Philology, and staff member of the Adyghe Republican Institute of Humanitarian Research. The program featured four thematic sections focused on Adyghe culture. ASU scholars Raisa Unarokova, Doctor of Philology, and Zarema Tseeva, PhD in History, spoke about the history of national dress, culinary traditions, and communication etiquette among young people.
Guests were also treated to traditional Adyghe dishes. The program included a performance by Anzaur Misha, renowned accordionist and artistic director of the Adygea State Folk Song Ensemble “Islamey.” The evening concluded with a youth dance competition, or “dzhegu”, led by “dzheguako” Aytech Udzhuhu.
