The Adygea regional branch of the All-Russian public organization "Russian Geographical Society" won the 2026 Republic of Adygea Grant Competition for the Development of Civil Society. Support was awarded to a project dedicated to the creation of an educational ecological trail at the botanical garden of Adygea State University.

The grant amounted to 1,497,440 rubles . The project is being implemented under the "Support for projects in science, education, enlightenment, and cultural initiatives" program.

The main goal of the initiative is to create a modern educational infrastructure within the university's botanical garden. The project will include an inventory of the plant collection and the creation of a geographic information system (GIS) for the area. Furthermore, plans include the development of unique excursion content, including the option to visit the trail online on the official ASU website, as well as comprehensive improvements to the route.

The ecological trail is designed to become a universal platform for practical classes, scientific research, and excursions for schoolchildren, students, and anyone interested in the nature of the Caucasus. The project places special emphasis on inclusivity: the use of distance learning and digital technologies will make educational content accessible to children with disabilities, as well as a wider online audience beyond the Maykop district.

The project's implementation will strengthen Adygea's position as a region developing eco-tourism and educational tourism. The new trail will become a magnet for school groups and tourists, expanding the republic's range of tourism services, increasing its visibility, and contributing to the preservation of the region's unique natural heritage.

The opening of the ecological trail in the ASU Botanical Garden is planned after the completion of all stages of improvement in 2027.
