ASU Professor Rashid Khunagov presented at the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Department of Social Sciences, titled "New Ideas in Sociological Theory and Social Practice."

Rashid Khunagov, Director of the Research Institute for Complex Problems at ASU, Doctor of Sociology, and Professor, participated in the Scientific Council of the Social Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) meeting entitled "New Ideas in Sociological Theory and Social Practice." The meeting, titled "Mentoring as a Social Phenomenon: Theory and Practice," was held at the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Science. Leading Russian philosophers and sociologists participated. One of the council's co-chairs is RAN Corresponding Member Zhan Toshchenko. Yuri Volkov, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and Academic Director of the Institute of Sociology and Regional Studies at the federal science center of the Russian academy of science, delivered the keynote address, "The Potential of Mentoring in Science and Education: Challenges of the Time."

Rashid Khunagov was invited as a panelist and presented a paper on the topic: "Mentoring as a Sociocultural Tool for Integrating Young People into the University Academic Environment." Also participating were renowned scholars, including Professor Arkady Marshak, Chief Researcher at the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Professor Galina Sillaste , Research Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications at the Financial University; and others.

The researchers discussed a wide range of issues related to new aspects of mentoring research, including its forms and methods. The focus was on understanding the specifics of mentoring in education and science, as well as finding effective tools for measuring its effectiveness in today's context.

The Scientific Council of the Department of Social Sciences, "New Ideas in Sociological Theory and Social Practice," is one of the Russian Academy of Sciences' most respected academic expert communities in the field of sociology. The participation of our university's scholars in its work is a recognition of the high level of socio-philosophical and sociological research conducted at the university. For example, in 2025, Svetlana Lyasheva, Doctor of Philosophy and Professor at ASU,   was a panelist on theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of social identity.
