ASU Hosts Conference on Countering Extremist Ideologies in Education and Youth
The plenary session focused on the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 as a means of exerting destructive influence on Russian youth. Discussions also addressed the educational efforts of the republic's clergy in countering the spread of terrorism and neo-Nazism among young people. Participants examined the psychological foundations of preventing destructive behavior, shared insights from the work of ASU’s Coordination Center in combating the ideology of terrorism and neo-Nazism among students in the region, and explored broader strategies for preventing extremist tendencies among youth—including information and psychological operations.
The conference continued with a roundtable discussion that addressed the preservation of historical memory, the development of moral and patriotic values among young people, and the prevention of radical influence through modern information channels.
Particular attention was given to practical measures aimed at countering destructive influences on youth, as well as to strengthening cooperation among government institutions, educational organizations, religious leaders, and civil society groups.
