The competition was established by the Adyghe State University in 2022 and is held annually. This year it will be held under the name "TsIykIuzhyy" ("Baby") and is aimed at finding new works for children aged three to five years.
The competition is open to authors over 18 years of age who write in Adyghe, Kabardino-Circassian and Russian, illustrators and translators of works for children. Works submitted to the competition must correspond to the age of the audience, be distinguished by originality of style and artistic techniques. Works that have not previously been published in paper form or on Internet platforms will be accepted for consideration.
The competition is held in three nominations: "prose and poetry", "illustration" and "translations". Fairy tales (except for the genre of folk tales), fantasy and educational stories on the themes of friendship, mutual assistance, love of nature, relationships with peers and parents are recommended, works explaining the laws of Adyghe Khabze are welcomed.
The organizers of the competition propose to create illustrations for the ethical Adyghe laws "Adyghe Khabze", works by Korney Chukovsky, Samuil Marshak, Boris Zakhoder, Agniya Barto, Sergey Mikhalkov, Kirimize Jane, Nalbiy Kuek, Murat Paranuk, Jafar Chuyako, Abrek Shakov, Safiyat Abregova, Zaur Naloyev, Liuan Afaunov, Hasan Khatsukov, Liuan Gubzhokov, Alim Keshokov, Biberd Zhurtov, Alim Khanfenov, Khizir Abitov, as well as translations of previously untranslated works by the above-mentioned authors. The nomination "translations" accepts translations from Adyghe, Kabardino-Cherkess into Russian and from Russian into Adyghe and Kabardino-Cherkess.
The winners and prize winners of the competition will receive cash prizes, and the competition partners have also established special prizes for participants. The works of the winners in the nomination "prose and poetry" will be published by the Publishing House of the Adyghe University as separate books in the series "Children's Literature from Adygea", books from which were presented at the 10th book festival "Red Square", the 2nd Moscow International Children's Book Fair and posted on Litres.
Applications for the competition will be accepted starting on June 1; you can read the competition regulations and submit an application on the website until August 31. The jury will announce the names of the winners on November 15, 2025.
