Elena Malysheva: Historical memory of the Great Patriotic War is an important consolidating factor in Russian society

An open lecture for students "In the name of peace on Earth - the living Memory of days gone by..." by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Russian History, Historiography, Theory and Methodology of History at ASU Elena Malysheva was held at the Institute of Humanitarian Knowledge and Culture . The event was held as part of the Science Week and was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
 
Professor Malysheva's lecture examined key theses of the history of the Great Patriotic War, the sources of the Victory over Nazi Germany and its satellites, and emphasized the modern large-scale information war in which the aggressive West uses the falsification of history as a tool to undermine Russia's national state security.
 
- Today, Russian society is faced with a global confrontation with the aggressive West, an information war has been launched that is trying to reformat the consciousness of our youth, to knock out from under their feet the foundation on which national harmony is based, - noted Elena Malysheva.
 
The memory of the Great Patriotic War is one of the stable and significant symbols that form the fundamental values and semantic guidelines of the Russian mass historical consciousness of Russian citizens. The historical memory of the Great Patriotic War allows the Russian people to unite within a single cultural-historical and socio-political space, as well as to integrate new members of society into a single space.
 
- We cannot desecrate the great price our country paid for the victory over Nazi Germany. For the sake of this memory, for the sake of preserving the unity of our society, we pay tribute to the memory of the victors, - added the professor.
