Documents required for staying in the Russian Federation

Under the law of the Russian Federation, foreign citizens may move freely within the territory of the Russian Federation with the following documents:

1. Passport with a valid visa;
2. Migration card;
3. Registration.

It is enough to have copies of these documents while staying in Maykop. We also recommend you to have Student’s card and Dormitory pass on you at all times (in case you live in a hostel)

Migration registration 

Under the law of the Russian Federation, a foreign citizen must be registered by the Migration Service of the Russian Federation. For this purpose, after every arrival to Maykop you must present the following documents to Registration Office of the International Department (18 Zhukovskogo Street, 5th floor – hereafter -RO) during 3 days:

1. Passport;
2. Migration card;
3. A ticket (tickets) to Maykop.

After this procedure, you will be given the paper of registration, the original of which you must preserve and keep intact as well as the migration card.

Registration and Migration card 

General cases of registration are classified as follows:

• State Border crossing;
• Coming from any city of Russia;
• Hotel/hostel accommodation;
• Returning from the hospital;
• A change of dormitory;
• Passport prolongation or reissuing.

NB!
If you plan to rent a flat, you must be registered by the flat owner. It is forbidden to live in the rented accommodation without being registered there.

A hand-carried paper of registration becomes void in cases of:

• Another state border crossing;
• Another hotel/hostel accommodation (if you were registered there previously);
• Change of dormitory.

Departure and entry to and from the Russian Federation

Before the departure you should inform the staff of RO about leaving in advance. In cases of completion of training, expulsion, study leave you must fill in a Departure list control form and submit it to RO before leaving.

After arrival you must present the documents for registration again by means of the instruction given above.

Visa prolongation

For the purpose of visa prolongation you should present listed documents to RO at least one month prior to the visa expiry date:

• Passport;
• Paper of registration;
• Migration card;

• 2 photos (3,5х4,5сm) made on dull paper, colored or black-white, no glasses;
• A state fee payment receipt for Multi-entry visa (1600 rub, payment via Sberbank);
• A copy of study contract (in case of commercial education);
• A copy of Study Certificate signed and approved through the Ministry of Education officials (in case of state-funded education);

NB! Passport requirements: 

• Take proper care of your passport. In case of its damage, you might be rejected when providing a visa.
• The passport must have at least two blank pages.
• The passport must be valid for at least 6 months prior to the date when your visa validity is required officially.
• If you renew the passport at the Embassy of your country on the territory of the Russian Federation, you must get new registration papers locally in ASU and replace/renew the visa. In this case you must collect the documents listed above and bring the originals all together to RO during the first 48 hours after passport reissue or renewal.

Expulsion and study leave

Under the law of the Russian Federation expulsion and study leave are the reasons for visa term reduction. In this case your staying at ASU will be limited and within 10 days prior visa expulsion you must leave the territory of the Russian Federation.

For the purpose of this you should present listed documents to RO in 10 days prior to leaving Russia:

1. Passport;
2. Paper of registration;
3. Migration card;
4. A copy of the ticket (ticket issue date should be accorded with the experts at RO).

Loss of passport, registration, migration card

If you lost the passport:

To reissue the passport you should proceed as follows:

1. To file an application for loss of passport to Police Department and get there a Police certificate confirming passport loss.
2. To present the following documents to Migration Department (in Russian - Отдел по вопросам миграции ОМВД России по Республике Адыгея) to issue a Certificate for departure to the Embassy of your country for the purpose of passport reissuance:
   • Police certificate confirming passport loss;
   • 2 photos (3,5х4,5сm) made on dull paper, colored or black-white, no glasses;
   • a copy of the lost passport (if available).
3. To apply for reissuing passport to Embassy of your country;
4. To apply for reissuing visa to RO.

If you lost the registration or migration card:

You should present the following documents to Migration Department (in Russian – Отдел по вопросам миграции ОМВД России по Республике Адыгея):

• Passport;
• Passport translation signed and stamped by notary services.

NB! In case of reissuing a migration card, you must be registered again by means of the instruction given above.

Responsibility for violation of migration legislation

According to the law of Russian Federation, you are personally responsible in cases of violation of migration legislation. Here are few of them:

• Violation of State border crossing;
• Loss of the term for registration;
• Loss of the term for visa prolongation;
• Loss of the term for departure from the Russian Federation (in case of expiry of visa validity);
• Illegal employment.

Remember!

You must apply to RO within 3 days in cases of:

• State Border crossing and coming Maykop;
• Coming from any city of Russia;
• A change of dormitory;
• Passport prolongation or reissuing.
