Elena Abakumova, Director of the Department of Fine Arts and Design at the Institute of Arts, Adyghe State University, Commemorates Her Birthday

Elena Viktorovna has dedicated 48 years to the fields of creativity and pedagogy. She is a PhD candidate in pedagogy, an associate professor, an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2009), and a distinguished veteran of labor. The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has recognized her contributions with the "For Achievements in Culture" medal. 

Elena Viktorovna is renowned for her innovative and conscientious approach to her responsibilities, exemplifying professionalism, organizational excellence, and high standards for herself and her students. Her passion for her work is evident in all her endeavors.

Her name is closely associated with the advancement of art education in Adygea. She was the inaugural head of the Fine Arts Department at the K. Tletseruk Republican Children's Art School and played a pivotal role in establishing the Painting Department at the U.Kh. Tkhabisimov Adygea Republican College of Arts, where she served as head for 17 years. Additionally, Elena Viktorovna actively contributed to the development of the Fine Arts Department at the Institute of Arts of Adyghe State University, where she has served as head for 21 years. From 2014 to 2021, she also led the Institute of Arts at Adygea State University.

Her research interests encompass pedagogical methods in fine and applied arts, promoting tolerance within multicultural regions, fostering intercultural dialogue, and enhancing students' artistic and creative skills. 

In pursuit of supporting Adyghe national culture, she has developed and implemented initiatives that include illustrating textbooks, anthologies, manuals, and workbooks on the Adyghe language. Additionally, she has authored children's books focused on Adyghe folklore and etiquette. Her editorial contributions include five catalogs of Adyghe artists and seven educational aids.

Elena Viktorovna is a distinguished member of the Union of Artists of Russia, serving as the chairperson of the Adygea Republican branch since 2018. She actively promotes the arts by organizing youth exhibitions and conducting master classes for aspiring artists. Throughout her career, she has participated in exhibitions at various levels, including national, regional, all-Russian, and international forums. Elena Abakumova’s artistic achievements have been acknowledged through numerous diplomas, certificates, and monetary awards. Her solo exhibitions have been showcased at esteemed venues such as the North Caucasus branch of the State Museum of Oriental Art, Feodosia in Crimea, the Regional Exhibition Hall in Krasnodar, and the Art Gallery in Maykop.

Myths, legends, biblical stories, the beauty of nature, and the diversity and harmony of colors inspire her creativity. Through her dedicated efforts, she has revitalized the art of felt-making in the Republic of Adygea, conducting master classes across various villages, towns, and cities. She actively promotes children's fine arts and serves as the chair of the jury for children's competitions in decorative, applied, and fine arts.

Elena Abakumova’s high level of professionalism, extensive experience, and well-earned reputation have secured her membership on the commission under the Head of the Republic of Adygea for the awarding of State Prizes in Literature, Science, and Art. Additionally, she is a member of the Council of the Head of the Republic of Adygea for Culture and Art, the Council for Architecture and Urban Planning, the Women’s Union of Adygea, and the "Higher Principle" women’s club of Adygea—all of which are actively engaged in community service. Her students work as educators throughout the republic and in other regions of Russia. Many, like their mentor, balance teaching with creative pursuits and have become members of the Union of Artists of Russia.
