Adyghe State University Launches the "ECO Path 01" Project: Promoting Accessible Tourism in Adygea for Senior Citizens

The "Adygea – Territory of Health" project team is pleased to announce the launch of "ECO Path 01: Developing Accessible Tourism in Adygea for Seniors." This initiative aims to equip seniors with the skills to independently organize accessible excursion routes within the city of Maykop, its surrounding areas, and their permanent residences.

According to Svetlana Ozheva, a member of the program development team and a lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Tourism at ASU, "These skills will empower seniors to adapt and preserve their quality of life post-retirement, while also promoting social engagement and active recreational activities."

The inaugural meeting of the project is scheduled for April 24 at 2:00 PM, and will be held in the coworking space at the ASU Science and Innovation Park (Gagarin Street 13). The project team has prepared an engaging intellectual and creative game centered around the cultural, historical, and natural landmarks of Russia and the world. Additionally, a brief educational workshop will be conducted on discovering unique corners of one's native land and integrating them into a tour route. Following the activities, participants will have the opportunity to share their impressions and engage in a relaxed, heartfelt conversation over a cup of tea and sweets.

This first gathering will be attended by pensioners from the Giaginsky and Koshekhablsky districts of Adygea. Everyone is welcome to join. The event is free of charge.

As a reminder, "Adygea – Territory of Health" is a project initiated by Adyghe State University, implemented as part of the "Priority 2030" development program. Since 2025, it has also become part of the national "Youth and Children" project. The primary goal of the initiative is the scientific development and testing of an effective model to enhance the quality of life and increase life expectancy among residents of the region. 

The project's objectives include:

• Developing a training model for specialists capable of maintaining physical and psychological health in uncertain conditions.

• Creating and implementing a system of mass physical education, tourism, health, and educational events and promotions targeted at diverse population groups.

• Improving the quality of life through active participation in university-led initiatives in tourism, physical education, recreation, active aging, and support for socially vulnerable groups.

• Training personnel in the fields of tourism, physical education, recreation, and health.

• Assessing professional burnout levels among professionals in socially significant sectors and developing programs to address it.

• Monitoring the population's quality of life and happiness index through digital services.
