Adyghe State University Develops an Integrated Geospatial Monitoring System for Territory Development

A multidisciplinary scientific study has been conducted to comprehensively assess the state of the environment, quality of life, and infrastructure in Adygea, with a focus on supporting a healthy lifestyle. As part of the "Priority 2030" program's strategic project, "Adygea - Territory of Health," a geoinformation system will be developed to aggregate scientific and analytical data on the ecological condition of landscapes, infrastructure, and social services. This system will also incorporate findings from a sociological study on the quality of life of Adygea's population, aiming to provide a holistic understanding of the region's environmental and socio-economic dynamics.

The development of an information and analytical foundation for analyzing environmental and social spheres, forecasting their future development, and informing management decisions is a collaborative effort between scientists from ASU and colleagues at Lomonosov Moscow State University, as part of the scientific and educational partnership "Vernadsky - Republic of Adygea". Under the guidance of Aminat Umarova, the head of the Department of Physics and Soil Reclamation at Lomonosov Moscow State University's Faculty of Soil Science, this project brings together experts from both institutions to share knowledge and expertise.

During the comprehensive field expedition, conducted in the Maikop territory from June 26 to July 1, a multidisciplinary team of 45 experts - meteorologists, zoologists, botanists, soil scientists, and sociologists - gathered data to enrich the system. The interdisciplinary study focused on the urban territory, scrutinizing the environmental state, quality of life, and availability of infrastructure essential for sustaining a healthy lifestyle.

-We have united not only scientists from different universities, but also scientists from different fields. Our groups simultaneously conducted research on biodiversity, ecological situation, microclimate, dendrology, and sociology. On the one hand, we examine the environment according to certain parameters. On the other hand, sociologists study human expectations from the environment,- said Aminat Umarova.

The primary objective of the project is to establish a comprehensive database of spatial distribution, specialization, and capacity of organizational services in Adygea in the fields of physical education, sports, recreation, and health improvement, as well as active longevity. This database will also include modules for monitoring the quality of life of the population to provide a solid foundation for justifying and developing a digital health passport for the region's inhabitants.

At the initial stage of project implementation, a geographic information system will be created for the regional capital, the city of Maikop. Subsequently, data on all districts in Adygea will be incorporated into this system.
