Traditional Maslenitsa festivities were held at the Adyghe State University and its integral part was the competition for the best pancake. The participants prepared 15 varieties of pancakes: from the classic ones with sour cream and jam to African pancakes.
The event has been held at the University for the fourth time. The organizers were the International and Philological Faculties and the ASU Institute of Humanitarian Knowledge and Culture. More than one hundred students took part in the event.
Maslenitsa is a good reason to introduce foreign students to Russian traditions. They enjoyed tasting pancakes, dancing round dances with their Russian peers, playing games and pulling the rope.
The best pancake contest winners were chosen by voting. All event participants could vote for the pancake they liked.
The winners of a pancake fight became Khurshida Akhadova and Mukhlisa Khuzhakulova from Uzbekistan. They cooked Kurnik. The girls study at the 4th course of the International Faculty. The first year student of the Philological Faculty Darya Pogrebenko cooked classic Russian pancakes and got a high rating from the tasters.
